I first learned to work with traditional oils during my time in university, and more recently, I’ve returned to the medium, experimenting with water-based oils. I’m really enjoying working with them because they offer the richness and depth of traditional oil paints while being more environmentally friendly and easier to work with. The smooth blending capabilities and vibrant finishes allow me to create subtle transitions in light and shadow, adding a new dimension to my work. Working with oils feels both meditative and rewarding, as I explore the tactile nature of the paint and its ability to capture depth, texture, and emotion.
